The quad that was stopped in the infield was Peter Skender (117). He has walked to the finish arena to get some fuel and will walk back out to the quad to finish the race.
Peter was the first quad on the road before he stopped with lack of fuel.

There is a quad on the infield that has stopped and the rider is trying to push it to the finish line.
He's pushed it approx half a kilometer with about a full kilometer to go. The rider is sitting on the side of the track having a rest at the moment.

The first bikes have crossed the finish line to a thunderous applause from the large crowd that is gathering here at the finish line of the Kickstarters Gascoyne Dash.
Vernon Strange (1) crossed the finish line first after starting on the third row of the grid. Paul Brown (59) was second followed by Ivan Erceg (19) in third. Next across the line in fourth was Warren Strange (13)and in firth Chad Freeman (7). Scott Rhodes (5) came in sixth and in seventh place Glen Hancook (26).
Eigth went to Gavin Cullen (51), ninth Leon Clare (63) and rounding out the top ten Daniel Woodman (99).

The first bikes are due any minute. Unfortunately we are short staffed as our regular blogger is still on her way from Gascoyne Junction. We will get busy timing the bikes shortly and will be unable to continue with the blog until they get here.

The Lawn Doctor holden jackeroo of Garry Povah and Che Parker has been reported retired from the event and at a check point awaiting recovery.

Greg Schultz and Rick Andreoli (736) stopped to help Rod Barton and Benn Ingham (234) when they were bogged in the river. Just goes to show the mateship when you're racing in the desert.

Steve Armour and Neil Morrison (847) have put in a great effort to cross the line backwards with broken steering. They appear to have broken a steering arm. The front right hand wheel is flapping around.
The first of the Suzuki is in the arena. When we can sight a number we'll let you know.

We're back at the Kickstarters Gascoyne Dash. The first of the B Group cars have entered the finish arena. We have three cars in sight. First in is the Gould Transport Southern Cross buggy of Rod Barton and BennIngham (234)
Next across the line is the Ray White Canarvon local lad of Ted Schultz and Rich Andreoli (736) in their Jeep J20.

The Pressure Vac sposnored Landrover of Justin Yaksich and Brian Neil (888) has entered the finish area and commencing their infield run. What a magnificant effort. By our unofficial reconning he will be fourth outright for the Kickstarters Gascoyne Dash.
The crowd goes wild as 888 crosses the line.

Brian Robinson and Matthew Fond (84) have won the 2008 Kickstarters Gascoyne Dash closely folloed by som Beau Robinson and Roy Lukies (85). Beau did not finish yesterdays section so he is not in the running for outright position.

Brian Robinson and Matthew Fong 2007 Dash winners are leading the field into the Canarvon Race Course. They are doing the run through the infield which winds around and are approaching the finish line.

The two Robinson cars are insight of the finish line. It is impossible to tell from this distance which one is infront. The second one is right up the rear of the first and trying to get passed.

The weather in Canarvon today is hot 35degres, dry with a strong south westerly sea breeze.
We're waiting for the first cars to come into sight for the finish area. We believe Brian Robinson and Matthew Fong (84) are leading the race but anything can happen on the homeward stretch.
