2:21pm 999 Trevor Copeland has fuel problems, still fixing. He will decide whether he continues and cops the deviation from the course penalty or waits for Section 2 to start...Travis Robinson has arrived in 39:05.96 which places him up in 6th position after leaving Smithys' Place in 12 position

2:18pm Travis Milburn in a time of 44:17.99 arrives in Hyden

2:16pm Matt Hanson arrives in Hyden in a time of 39:08.73 which puts him currently 6th on the road....

2:15pm Eric Phillips crosses the line in a time of 38:22.78 just in front of Brian Robinson in a time of 39:53.65

2:08pm Fellows has set the pace at the pointy end of the field, with lights of the next vehicle heading towards the finish marker. Shannon and Ian Rentsch are the next to arrive

2:05pm Lights from the first vehicle are coming into sight as 14 David Fellows arrives in Hyden in a time of 34:36.78

2:02pm The rain continues to fall at the finish area here in Hyden with conditions extremely slippery to greet the front runners when they arrive..

1:59pm Both vehicles who stopped on 1st corner leaving Hyden have now re-commenced the event

1:57pm Christies Hill has been named after Christie French who lost her life on the Hyden Road a few days before a Hyden event some years ago.......She loved the sport as a competitor and spectator and having her Dad (Andy French) and John Paterson open this special spectator area in her honour would make her squeal with embarrassment. She would have been STOKED that there now is a viewing area that had so much to offer...



1:53pm Word from Hyden is that the start line is a swimming pool as rain sweeps across the surrounds....

55 Alistair Colley has not commenced the run into Hyden with 61 Chris Western stopped on the first corner from the start line - reason unknown

1:48pm The track distance from Smithy's Place to Hyden is 58 kms with 68kms to be covered on the return trip back to complete Section 1 of the Hyden 400

1:46pm Welcome back to the ARB - Pinjarra Engineering Hyden 400 - Round 1 - 2008 Australian Off Road Championship.

We are now in Hyden township awaiting the arrival of the competitors who are currently leaving Smithy's Place 1 every minute.

The conditions are different now, smithy's place was blowing a gale with the hint of rain on the wind, but here in Hyden it has been raining and the area is very wet and sloshy, which is going to make track conditions extremely slippery in places.

The new initiative for 2008 of live internet commentary for the event provided by offroadracing.com.au has surpassed the initial expectations.

At the conclusion of the Top 10 Shoot out at 12 o'clock WA time the number of listeners was 674.

The live audio commentary will be off line due to Section 1 point to Point into Hyden township. The typed commentary will be available from the finish at Hyden with audio returning later in the day....

The scheduled start time for Section 1 is 1.30pm

12:03pm The event schedule now:

Section 1 will be a point to point style run, from Smithy's Place to the Hyden town site and return. This section will have a competitive distance of approx 160 kms....

The on-line commentary will return at approx 1:30pm WA time as we move to the township of Hyden to await the arrival of the vehicles.

11:58am Speaking with Matt Hanson, he is happy with his starting position in the Top 10 and is looking forward to the start of the event proper...

11:53am We await the return of David Fellows / Andrew Kittle who will be hoping to keep his position as the wind blow the flags and the helicopter flys past Fellows posts a time of 7:41:21 which gives the Peter Kittle Toyota Racing Development Team 1st outright in the Top 10 shoot out

11:49am "The cool man" Travis Milburn and Matthew Steele completed their lap knocking 11 seconds off his prologue time in a time of 8:04:77 moving him 2 positions up the list.

Hayden Bentley did a time of 8:01:80 cureently leading the Top 10 shoot, as Shannon and Ian Rentsch cross the finish marker.

Shannon did a time of 7:49:39, now moving him into the current lead moving Hayden Bentley back into second position, moving Travis Milburn back to 3rd

11:43am 96 Eric Phillips completed his lap in a time of 8:12:03 still giving Prout the lead...

The leading vehicle from todays Prologue is 14 David Fellows and Andrew Kittle who are set to defend their position for Section 1

Fellows and Kittle leave the start line and will be the last vehicle to complete in the top 10 shoot out

11:40am Aussie 1 leaves the line and Victorias father and son team of 3 Shannon and Ian Rentsch will be seeking a move up the list.

Shannon and Ian have been the Australian Off Road Champions for the previous 3 years and will be looking for a good weekend.

Shannon and Katie Siviour recently celebrated their wedding, and we wish them all the best for the future...


11:36am Currently fastest in the Hyden 400 Top 10 shoot-out is Brad Prout

11:34am 25 Travis Milburn leaves the line, bringing Australia No: 1 Hayden Bentley and Ben Chivel to the line.

11:33am Chris Coulthard did a drive shaft in the start arena anbd is being towed to the pit area...

Matt and Sam Hanson completed their lap 8:12:96 which bettered his previous time of approx 7 seconds...

11:32am 96 Eric Phillips leaves the line bringing the South Australian "top gun"
'The cool man' sponsored Travis Milburn / Matthew Steele to the line. Travis will be hoping to better his current 4th outright position.....

11:25am 88 Chris coulthard and Robert Hawker approach the line as Matt and Sam Hanson head out of the viewing arena

11:23am 7 The team of Matt and Sam Hanson from Victoria currently in 7th position, awaiting for their attempt at maybe bettering their position...

Matt was happy with his prologue time and maintaining 7th position would still put them in a commanding position for a outright position.

The jandakot helicopter stirs the dust in the start arena as Prout prepares to make a bit of dust himself...

11:17am 84 Brian Robinson / Glen Ward leave the line for their attempt and moving from currently in 9th outright to mover higher up the list...

11:16am 999 Trevor Copeland leaves the start line hoping to move his starting position for the event proper higher up the list.

10:21am Adam Greg and Naomi Goddard complete his Prologue run and observed licence test as he brings it home taking the final jump majestically.

10:15am We currently await the posting of the provisional times from the ARB-Pinjarra Engineering Hyden 400 - Round 1 2008 Australian Off Road Championship.

10:10am Paul Kelly is the last of the observed licenced test drivers and leaves the line to complete his run

10:09am Steven Tricari prepares to leave as Adam Greg and Naomi Goddard leave the arena area.

10:08am 5 minutes now to the last group of competitors who will be completing their Observed Driving Test - Travis Robinson driving the ex-Buddy Crowe Jimco completes the team from Outer Bounds Racing. Travis the youngest of the Robinson boys is anticipating a good run in the prologue as he leaves the line bringing the ex- Luke Erceg southern Cross Mk5 buggy recently purchased by Adam Greg and Naomi Goddard from Kalgoolie

10:02am Mark Cramer come to the line and leave bringing Brett Renton to the start area

10:00am Max Pilmer leaves the line bringing the off road rush buggy of Matt Western to the line, dusty conditions continue as the breeze continues to blow

9:58am Chris Western leaves the line as Alistair Colley finishes
