2:37pm Crews and competitors will spend the rest of today completing reconnaissance of the full track, followed by prepping their vehicles for tomorrow’s big race.

2:35pm Prize money will be awarded for the Dash for Cash to each class. The amounts will be $200.00 for the winner of each class and $100.00 runner up.

This concludes today’s racing, the main race will begin tomorrow morning at 9:30am EST.


2:34pm #57 came in second behind #30. This was a spectacular race to watch!

2:33pm Glen Owen is on the last half of the lap, with lots of dust thrown up, and the commentator is having trouble keeping up. looks like Owen has just got it, making up some time somewhere on the track, coming in first.
What an exciting dash between these two competitors.

2:33pm #57 is looking spectacular as he glides across the final jumps.
As both competitors make their way around to the finish line, it will be a close call as to who will win!

2:31pm Glenn Owen and Matthew Ryan #30have pushed hard and just gone through for their first lap. The red mist must be settling on both drivers, as they are driving much harder than all the other competitors. Jump one down, jump two done, round the corner throwing up rooster tails. very impressive.


2:30pm Racing around his final lap under a beautiful clear blue sky,#57 just flew over a jump, impressing spectators.

2:29pm Glenn Owen and Matthew Ryan #30, have just started their two laps against
Aaron Haby #57. It will be a battle between the Pro Class buggies, with neither driver giving any quarter when competing. The jumps were taken, causing us in the timing van to hold our breaths. Very impressive.


2:29pm #57 is thundering down the straight past the crowd, after an impressive drive around the chicane.

2:28pm Aaron Haby in the #57 Element Southern Cross is speeding around the first lap, flying over the first jump.

2:27pm The last class to compete in the Swan Hill Dash for Cash is:

2:27pm #181 has crossed the finish line behind #164

2:27pm Dust is being raised down the far end of the track by Daryl Nissen and Andrew Harness #164 and they have now finished their laps, ahead of
Stephen Burrows and Jason Telford, Vanessa Burrows #181


2:25pm The first lap has been completed, with Daryl Nissen and Andrew Harness #164 just in front. It is a good tussle and the cars are not very far apart.


2:25pm #181 has just sped around the chicane corner infront of a crowd of cheering spectators.

2:23pm The wind has died down again, and the dust being thrown up by these two is handing around a bit, but nothing to make conditions difficult.

2:22pm Daryl Nissen and Andrew Harness #164 have just started their dash against #181. Darryl is pushing hard and landed sideways off the second jump. He always drives 10/10ths and the vehicle laps it up.


2:21pm Stephen Burrows and Jason Telford, Vanessa Burrows in the #181 MBR Jimco
is thundering around the first lap here at the 2013 MBL Sea Lake Mallee Rally ARB 350.

He is racing in the Australian Champion winning Jimco machine which has been transformed to a Pro Lite from a Pro



2:20pm The next class to compete in the Swan Hill Windscreens Dash for Cash is the Pro Lite class with the following competitors:

Daryl Nissen and Andrew Harness in the #164 SORE 1980
Stephen Burrows and Jason Telford, Vanessa Burrows in the #181 MBR Jimco



2:20pm Touch and go, and the Schultz team has just crossed the line, a little behind the vehicle of #471. a very well matched dash, showcasing the trucks and how well they handle.

2:20pm #471 put on a spectacular show for the crowd, awesome display of how the Extreme 2WD machines handle the track

2:19pm #471 has now crossed the finish line ahead of #455

2:18pm the back start line has been passed, with only half a lap to go. both vehicles look impressive.

2:17pm John and David Schultz #455 have finished the first lap, but it appears that they have some time to make up. Over the jumps again, and there is still lots of daylight between the track and the truck.


2:16pm John and David Schultz in the #455 Bennett Trophy Truck have really got this vehicle well and truly worked out, and spare no mercy whilst competing. They put on a good show wherever they compete.


2:15pm Ivan Robertson and Peter Luckraft in the #471 MickleFab Raptor is thundering around the track, pushing the limits along the Swan Hill Windscreens Dash for Cash

He has been plagued with niggling gremlins since the debut over 12 months ago and is consequently looking for a good run this weekend



2:14pm John and David Schultz #455, extreme 4wd, are on the line, against
Ivan Robertson and Peter Luckraft #471. they took off very well, and have just gone over both jumps better than the other vehicles.


2:13pm The next class to compete in the Swan Hill Windscreens Dash for Cash is the Extreme 2WD with :

2:12pm #833 has crossed the line finishing and winning the Swan Hill Windscreens Dash for Cash ahead of #811

2:12pm Reg Owen and Russell Cairns #811 are still roaring around the track, coming in to the chichane area, but it looks like they will be beaten this time. They have just crossed the finish line and pulled up quickly, second.


2:09pm We cant see the whole way round the dash track, but it is not taking either vehicle long to get around. Reg has just finished his lap, a little behind the other vehicle.

2:09pm #833 is speeding along leading the dash ahead of #811.

2:07pm There is a bit more dust being thrown up by these vehicles, but the wind has picked up again, so it is being dispersed quickly.

2:07pm #833 has stormed through the main arena and headed back out around the jumps.



2:06pm Reg Owen and Russell Cairns #811 are in position for a start, and the flag has just dropped. legend of offroad racing Reg Owen competed at the first Sea Lake Mallee Rally, and is now competing in the 40th Mallee Rally. Pulled up hard at the jumps, he is hauling the vehicle around the track with ease.


2:05pm Sandy Bowman and Daniel Hardman in the #833 Nissan Patrol GQ had a great take off, flying over the first jump!


2:05pm The next class to compete in the Swan Hill Windscreens Dash for Cash is the Extreme 4WD with the following competitors:

Reg Owen and Russell Cairns in the #811 Nissan Patrol
Sandy Bowman and Daniel Hardman in the #833 Nissan Patrol GQ


2:04pm these super 1650 class vehicles really handle the track well, and #232 has just finished ahead of #298

2:04pm #298 has now crossed the finish line, behind #232

2:02pm the jumps are being taken forcefully, which will give the spectators something to talk about at the end of the day.

2:02pm #298 is heading towards the spectator arena in full swing, with only half a lap to go!

2:01pm it looks like the Werner and Susan Zettl #232 team have been pushing hard, with only a short gap between them and the competition as they cross the line to complete their first lap.


1:59pm Father and son team #298 has sped past the timing van, making good tracks in the dirt

1:58pm Werner and Susan Zettl #232 are racing against Mark and Nathan Hubbard
#298. the flag is up, now down and they are away.
they revved the heck out of the vehicle on the start line, but got away very well. out of New South Wales, husband and wife team.


1:58pm Mark and Nathan Hubbard in the #298 Southern Cross Mk5 stormed off the line and is making his way around the first of two laps.


1:57pm Competitors for the Super 1650 class is:

1:56pm #357 has now finished in second place behind #313.

The next class to compete is Super 1650.

1:56pm Glen and Rohan Hollis #313 have gone round the track as fast as they can, and have just crossed the finish line. they will be very happy with their result, beating #357.


1:56pm #357 was ploughing through the dirt and after a hard jump, appears to have a car full of dirt and in his lap!

1:54pm With only half a lap to go, #357 looks to be having a ball out there!

1:54pm both jumps mastered well, sliding around corners, the guys look to be having lots of fun.

1:53pm #357 is charging along the track, now on his second lap


1:53pm the spectators are being treated to some good racing in the dash, one lap has just been completed, and the steering wheel is being hauled around as they master the corners.

1:51pm the car is a benbuilt, and has just jumped very well over both jumps. the sun is bright in the sky, and at present the wind has dropped, but no dust is hanging around.

1:51pm Dean Williams and Scott McInnes in the #357 Southern Cross Mk4 are speeding around the chicane corner, ahead of a cheering and enthusiastic audience


1:49pm Glen and Rohan Hollis #313 are on the finish line against #357. the flag has just dropped.


1:49pm Competing in the Sportsman class is:

Dean Williams and Scott McInnes in the #357 Southern Cross Mk4


1:49pm #759 has crossed the line, in second place for the production 4WD class.

The next class to compete is the Sportsman class.


1:48pm The back start point has been passed by #501, and the dust is blowing away quite quickly. He is putting in a concerted effort to get to the finish line, lights are shining, the chicane is proving no barrier. crossed the line first, after an epic battle.
